The origins of the present Masonic Homes date back to the late 1890's when land at Glenelg North was donated by Mr. WH Gray  (see footnote § )  for the purpose of providing accommodation for Freemasons and their families. This land was subsequently acquired by the State Government, but the proceeds were later used to establish the Masonic Homes, which today have facilities in Adelaide and Darwin.

Founded on the principles of Freemasonry,  Masonic Homes offer accommodation and care to all people regardless of their creed, race, or financial status.

Community Care outreach services are also available in some areas.
