Grand Installation - 3 May 2003

On Saturday 3rd May 2003 RW Bro Rob Casson, the Deputy Grand Master, was the twenty seventh Freemason to be installed as Grand Master of this Grand Lodge.  The outgoing Grand Master, MW Bro Geoff Tucker welcomed those attending, including visitors from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and all Masonic jurisdictions of Australia.  The Grand Installation was open to families and friends and was held in the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, which provided for excellent seating and viewing.

Associated functions (detailed below) were chosen to make the stay in Adelaide most memorable and enjoyable.

Accommodation

The Radisson Playford on North Terrace was the recommended accommodation  for interstate and overseas guests.  Transportation to all functions departed from this hotel.
Cost - $165 (per room).    Suites available on request

Grand Installation

Both the Grand Installation and the subsequent Grand Banquet were held at the one venue, the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Port Road, Hindmarsh, located 2.5km from the CBD.

Grand Banquet

An excellent a-la-carte menu was selected.  Food, wines, beer and soft drinks were included in the price.  A wonderful evening, with live entertainment. 

Parking

There was be no charge for car parking at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.  Ample space was available.  The Adelaide Entertainment Centre's web site is at http://www.adelent.sa.gov.au

Service of Worship

The Service of Worship was held at Pulteney Grammar School, South Terrace, Adelaide, at 11.00am Sunday.  

Sunday Roast

This followed the Service of Worship and was held at Pulteney Grammar School.  A friendly and relaxed atmosphere prevailed.  All beverages were included in the cost. 

Monday Coach Tour

Including a guided tour of historic Martindale Hall.  Lunch was provided in the cellars at the picturesque Sevenhill Winery.  Bus transport departed from the Radisson Playford on North Terrace. 

Lodge St David Installation

Interstate and overseas guests seeking the opportunity to visit a local Lodge Installation were encouraged to attend.

Weather conditions

Adelaide's weather in early May is usually fine, mild and sunny with average daily temperatures 20°C high and 10°C low (68 and 50°F).  As this is autumn, pre-winter rains may occur.

Tours before or after the Grand Installation events

If you wish to arrange additional tours in South Australia, we recommend the web site of the South Australian Tourism Commission for further advice.   Possibilities include various premium wine regions, Kangaroo Island, Fleurieu Peninsula and the Adelaide Hills, Yorke Peninsula, the Flinders Ranges and Outback, the Riverland and Murraylands, Limestone Coast and Eyre Peninsula.
